From hobbyist to full-stack engineer

I've been around computers for 30 years — long enough to remember when building a website meant writing HTML in Notepad and uploading it with an FTP client. That curiosity never went away.

For the last 11 years I've been building web applications professionally. I started on the front end but moved progressively further back — into APIs, databases, authentication, cloud infrastructure. I wanted to understand the whole system, not just the visible part.

I work primarily with Python, Node.js, JavaScript, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL on the back end. On the infrastructure side I provision and manage servers on GCP and AWS — Nginx, SSL, DNS, the works. I hold CompTIA Cloud+ certification, which has sharpened the theoretical underpinning of what I've been doing in practice for years.

I started Destemma Technologies because I saw a gap. Small businesses and startups often need serious technical work — a proper web application, a cloud migration, an API integration — but the agency quotes are eye-watering and freelance marketplaces are a lottery. Destemma Technologies is the alternative: senior-level work, direct communication, and pricing that doesn't assume you have a VC behind you.
